VITEX agnus-castus latifolia

A deciduous shrub from the Mediterranean, up to 3 m tall; leaves pinnate, dark green with an aromatic fragrance, composed of 5 to 7, linear lance-shaped leaflets; flowers large, blue to dark violet, borne in 20 to 30 cm long, dense racemes, consisting of 3 individual inflorescences on terminal ends of shoots - an especially prominent, late summer flowering plant, due to its late flowering season in August/September; requires protection in winter.
