ROSA rugosa

1 to 2 m tall shrub with many suckers; shoots are thick, covered densely with thorns and bristles; leaves rather rough, wrinkled, glossy dark green, turning golden yellow in autumn; flowers 6 to 8 cm across, open widely, rosy red to crimson, appearing in May/June, with continuous flowering till autumn; fruits flat and round, up to 2.5 cm wide, scarlet red, economically usable, appearing early - an undemanding shrub, tolerant to wind, for hedges and natural planting, very important for mass planting.
