Breeding by ADRIAN STRAVER, Emmerich, Germany; a broad, upright-growing, much-branched shrub, up to about 2 m tall; leaves rough, leathery, glossy dark green, 4.5 to 6.5 cm across, either flat to somewhat folded, young leaves lighter-coloured, lovely bronze-coloured at shoot break, light bluish-green underneath, edges toothed to serrated; flowers borne in 20 cm long, white racemes; fruits black - an excellent, hardy newcomer, that surpasses the popular cultivars like ´Caucasica´, ´Herbergii´, ´Rotundifolia´ etc; for hedges, as specimen plants or for group or mass planting, as a visible barrier, undergrowth planting, `transportable` greenery, wind protection; a cherry laurel that is tolerant to industrial climate and shady areas, and grows in almost every garden.
