´Blue Cascade´ (´PIIDIST-II´)^Ⓢ

Highly adaptable hybrid between D. myricoides and D. racemosus bred by Dr. Michael Dirr, Bogart, GA / USA. Well-branched plant habit, broadly upright, about 0.9m tall and 1.20m in width, with elegantly cascading shoots. Narrow, alternating foliage, leathery in texture, with entire margins – violet-bronze new growth, later glaucous. Flowers bordeaux to reddish-bronze, in short racemes in the leaf axils of the previous year’s shoots from March to May. This attractive, evergreen, robust and drought-tolerant shrub tolerates trimming, is free of diseases, tolerates a wide range of soils and will most certainly become very popular. Suitable for bedding, small hedges, containers – indeed, whenever easy-to-care-for, evergreen shrublets are called for in gardens and in the landscape. B, H, K, S, St. Zone 7a.
