A notable breeding hybrid of this highly adaptable genus by Dr. MICHAEL DIRR, Watkinsvilla, GA, USA; Growth up to about 1m high and 1.5m wide; leaves alternate, dark green, full-edged, thick, leathery, bronze-coloured in shoots, later green and teal tyres; Flowers strikingly red to maroon, in short grapes on the leaf axels of the previous years' branches in February to April - this interesting wood will in future legitimately acquire more importance, robust, healthy, free of diseases without special soil requirements, tolerated cutting and drought, for areas, small hedges, planters and wherever in the garden and landscape easy-care, evergreen shrubs are desired.
