TAXUS baccata

A medium-large, native tree or shrub with a very variable growing habit; crown either oval or rounded, densely growing or loosely growing with horizontal branches; bark on old stems flaky, appearing like bark of London planes; needles in two rows, arranged radially on upright twigs, dark green above, lighter underneath; fruits with stone fruit-like seeds and red, fleshy aril - a valuable conifer that tolerates shade like no other conifer and possessing a high ability to regenerate new shoots.
